What is the Songfindr plugin for Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve?
The Songfindr plugin puts the whole catalogue in a panel next to your timeline, so you can find, hear and place music without switching to your browser. It is free to install: you only pay for the licences you actually use. What you need - Premiere Pro 25.6 or later, on Windows or macOS. - DaVinci Resolve Studio, on Windows or macOS. The Resolve plugin is in beta. The free edition of DaVinci Resolve does not accept plugins, so it cannot run it. Download it from the plugin page. What it does - Block by block. Every track is split into blocks - intro, verse, chorus, drop, outro. Click a block to hear it, then Insert it right on your playhead, or use Fill to play the music before it into the gap, so the build-up lands on your cut. In Resolve you can also drag a block straight into the timeline. Placed music arrives with a marker at the start of each block. - Every version. Instrumental, vocal and alternate mixes unfold under each track, on the same structure as the original. One licence covers every version of a track. - Music Match by file. Drop in the temp track your client fell in love with (MP3, WAV, AIFF, FLAC, M4A or OGG) and the plugin finds what sounds like it in the catalogue. You can also search with words or a mood from the same field. - Your account, in the panel. Sign in once and your favourites and projects follow you from the website. Signing in Signing in from the panel opens your usual web browser, where you sign in to Songfindr as you do on the website - including with Google. Once you are signed in there, the panel picks it up by itself and you can close the browser tab. Watermarked or clean? You can place any track before you license it. Until you hold a licence for a track (or a subscription that covers it), the plugin places the watermarked preview, as an MP3. Once it is licensed, the plugin places the full-quality WAV master; on a slow connection you can choose the MP3, ten times lighter, in the plugin settings. A preview you already placed does not need placing again: as soon as the track is licensed, the Projects tab offers to swap it for the master, and the clip keeps its position in the timeline. Your masters also stay on your Downloads page. Licensing from the plugin In Premiere Pro, link your sequence to a Songfindr project: the tracks you place are gathered there, and you can see at a glance what is still unlicensed. License a single track as soon as it is approved, or the whole project once the edit is locked. Checkout happens on songfindr.com, with the same licences and the same prices as the website.
